Logistics of Working with Us

Here we try to answer all your logistical questions about working with us


How often do we meet?


We meet you at the cadence that's right for you. We recommend at least two meetings per month, but clients can meet weekly.  Sessions are generally an hour.  In our kick-off session, we will schedule a regular time and day for ongoing sessions.


Where do we meet?


We meet with clients via Zoom or phone.  We encourage the occasional phone call, as phone calls have a different quality that is worth exploring.  We're in the SF Bay Area and welcome some in-person meetings!


Coaching impacts you and your team


We are on a mission to get you and your team to the “next level” of leadership, to make your company and the world a better place.  We enjoy working with leaders where we can have a large impact on them and their teams.  We also believe we add more value when we see more of the “system” and team around you, so we often work with multiple senior leaders at the same firm.  We have honed our confidentiality practices to make this work for everyone involved.  Our collaborative approach is uncommon, and our clients report it is quite impactful.


What’s included in our partnership?


A lot!  We prefer to work more deeply with fewer clients.  We do that by rolling up our sleeves to help with your practical challenges, as well as by including things we have seen make a difference for most leaders.  Our work extends beyond pre-scheduled, synchronous 1:1 time.  


Our partnership with you includes all of these:


  • 1:1 coaching up to a weekly cadence. You can choose weekly or fortnightly with your coach (either Christy or Dave). Coaching is the heart of the partnership: it is where you work topics, set goals, stay accountable, and gain insights and frameworks.
  • An extended kick-off session with self-discovery pre-work.  This is a very fun session, and is where you clarify and commit to your initial coaching goals.
  • An online coaching log, where you’ll collect the exact set of frameworks & tools you need for your and your team’s use, as well as notes from each coaching session.  Many clients refer back to their coaching log years later!
  • Watching “game tape” of you in action with others.  We watch recordings of your meeting, and offer comments & suggestions.  “At minute 8, did you notice…?”  “What if you instead…?”
  • Asynchronous review of documents, emails, presentations, or other documents.
  • Short (<15m) calls to discuss a topic, celebrate a win, or prepare for a meeting.
  • Turbocharging your team: You can swap a coaching session for a consulting call. This could be a scheduled call with members of your team and both Christy & Dave to brainstorm or consult on a topic. For example, how to redesign your meetings or your product development practices, choose impactful activities for your offsite, plan your strategy, design your org, and more.  These are powerful, fun sessions for everyone involved!
  • Founder or Team relationship work: When coaching multiple leaders at a company, we offer “2 on 2” sessions where Christy & Dave facilitate a synchronous session with those leaders.  Common uses are to strengthen your relationship, clear the air between you, and practice new ways to address issues.
  • Assessments & Values work.  We cover the cost of an assessment in DiSC and Gallup StrengthsFinder to better understand yourself and improve your interactions with others.  Clients also find great value in our custom exercises to clarify and live your Values.
  • Periodic calls to check in with your manager, co-founder, or board member, as requested by you and following your agenda.
  • …All of the above are subject to a “within reason” check, though we’ve not yet hit our limit!  


What services are NOT included?


Examples of other, optional services we offer include leadership team facilitation, interview-style 360s, workshops, org design, and deeper consulting for you and your team.  We would create a separate statement of work for those; because they involve significant synchronous hours, they are not included in the coaching package above.  Please ask for more details.


Engagement Length


Our coaching engagements are open-ended, and the duration is determined by the client. However, we prefer to work with clients who are seeking a longer-term relationship with their coach.  The average engagement length in our practice is over 2 years, and many clients work with us again in their next companies.


Clients generally gain new tools and perspective, and see noticeable improvements in energy and optimism in the first month or so.  But research and our experience says that lasting changes will take hold in 4-6 months.  By then, people around you should be noticing your changes. That’s why we ask our clients for a 6-month commitment, after which our engagements renew quarterly. 


Fees & Billing


Our fee per client is $3,000 / month, with an initial commitment of six months ($18K).


Payments are due at the start of each quarter after your initial six months. Because our practice is generally full or nearly full, this ensures that we hold space for you.  Or, it lets us offer your space to waiting & returning clients.


We bill by invoice emailed directly to you or your Accounts Payable address. We prefer electronic payments via direct deposit (ACH), and do not accept credit cards. If another method works best for you or your company, let’s chat.
